Brahma Kumaris Participation at COP30
Inner Power and Making Conscious Choices
Report 2: 12. - 13. November 2025

As we move into the middle of the first week of the Conference, our next events highlight that ethics, values, and conscious choices are not merely secondary concerns for effective climate action but are in fact prime drivers.

This underlines one of the BK’s core messages: that the climate crisis is a spiritual and ethical issue, requiring faith communities to keep voicing the need for the ethics of care and justice. Central to the discussions is the need for inner spiritual transformation to cultivate the courage and strength necessary for making compassionate choices that prioritise the most vulnerable and future generations.  Participants in these events stressed incorporating core values into decision-making, distinguishing between needs and desires, and recognizing the significant impact of individual choices (like diet).

Ultimately, the message calls for faith leaders to be actively involved in negotiations to shift the focus from politics to shared human values and inner integrity.

The Role of Faith Communities in
Building Ethics of Care and Justice
12. November 2025

Maureen Goodman of the Brahma Kumaris was invited to guide a meditation for this event which was organised by the Women, Faith and Climate Network and took place in the Global Ethical Stocktake Pavilion.. The dialogue was moderated by Laura Cook from Project Dandelion using an innovative format: three empty seats were reserved — one for Mother Nature, one for future generations, and one for those unable to attend COP30. These symbolic seats reminded everyone of who must not be forgotten in climate decision-making. Panellists and participants were invited to reflect on two key questions:

  1. What is the role of faith communities in responding to the climate crisis?
  2. How can faith communities work together more effectively?

Maureen highlighted that faith communities are often the first to support people without resources, especially during disasters. She emphasised the urgent need to bridge the gap between policymakers and those who are suffering the most. H.R.H. Princess Esmeralda of Belgium offered the closing remarks.

Climate Wisdom Studio:
Conscious Choices for a World in Transition
12. November 2025

In this third Climate Wisdom Studio Golo Pilz, Adviser Renewable Energy Brahma Kumaris, speaks with Bishop Andreas Holmberg, Diocese of Stockholm, Enric Noguera, UN Affairs Plant Based Treaty and Maureen Goodman, Programme Director Brahma Kumaris, UK.

From Left to Right: Bishop Andreas Holmberg, Maureen Goodman, Golo Pilz

The main topic this evening was about exploring how we can make choices that benefit all of humanity.

Bishop Holmberg emphasised the need for bringing values into the decision-making process, re-learning contentment and distinguishing between what we need and what we desire (so that we don’t take more than we need.)  He feels that faith leaders should be at the negotiating table, as there are people of faith in all countries, and we all share a love for nature and a concern for future generations. Maybe this would change the mood of the negotiations.

Maureen Goodman shared about the law of cause and effect and being aware of the impact of our actions.  If we make decisions by asking: ‘Will this benefit the most vulnerable?’, our choices would be more compassionate and creative. It calls on us to have the spiritual courage and strength to make the best choices for  humanity as a whole. Inner spiritual empowerment enables us to act of love and bring Divine Love into the world. Divine Love is a great healing power and our world needs healing.

Enric Noguera emphasised that we all have a choice. We actually have the power to make new choices  every day, for example choosing a plant-based diet reduces each individuals’ carbon footprint by around 50%. Our choices progress society. We need to share information and educate others, so they can make more sustainable choices. Individual responsibility matters and has an impact. Enric spoke about how choosing to be vegan brought a positive transformation in his life and more inner peace.

Press Conference:
Ethics Driving Transition to Renewable Energy
13. November 2025

Left to Right: Akash Deep, Deputy General Manager for Griha Council, India; Golo Pilz, Adviser Renewable Energy Brahma Kumaris; Maureen Goodman, Programme Dir., Brahma Kumaris, UK.

Sonja Ohlson opened the press conference by introducing herself as the moderator for the event. She emphasised that climate change is not only a financial or political issue but also a moral one.

Golo Pilz stated that we have technology, money and strategy but we need to connect to inner values and walk the talk that we have promised in the previous COP conferences. We all need to join hands and look inwards to create a better world in order to come out of this crisis.

Akash Deep pointed out how the Griha Council has collaborated with the Government schools in India.  They have trained the children to do the building audits so that they carry with them the value and principles of living in harmony with nature right from a young age.  He claimed that they are the future for Net Zero!

Maureen Goodman referred to COP as the opportunity to put humanity at center stage. To make courageous decisions we need inner power and love. She also mentioned that the word love has come up more in this COP than any of the cop conferences before!
